1,2-propylene glycol is a chemical reagent mixed with water, ethanol and a variety of organic solvents, and its chemical formula is C3H8O2. Normal under the colorless viscous liquid, almost tasteless, smell slightly sweet. Propylene glycol can be used as a raw material for unsaturated polyester resins. It can be used as a moisturizer in cosmetics, toothpaste and soap in combination with glycerin or sorbitol. Used as a moisturizer, hair uniform in hair dyes, also as antifreeze, as well as in cellophane, plasticizer and pharmaceutical industry.
(1) Food Industry: Propylene glycol is good for viscosity and moisture absorption and is widely used as a hygroscopic agent, antifreeze, lubricant and solvent in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. In the food industry, propylene glycol and fatty acid reactions produce propylene glycol fatty acid esters, which are mainly used as food emulsifiers, and propylene glycol is an excellent solvent for flavorings and pigments. Due to its low toxicity, it is used as a solvent for flavorings and food colorings in the food industry.
(2) Used in organic synthesis, used as solvent, dewatering agent, plasticizer, antifreeze, gas chromatography fixation liquid.
(3) It is used as a solvent for connoisshescents, preservatives, ointments, ointments, pills and vitamins in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as as as an excipient.
